Request an OSCR Workshop

OSCR offers educational workshops to the campus community on issues and topics related to conflict management and resolution, which can be tailored for individual circumstances and needs, including preventative or reactive programming.  Popular topics include conflict styles, listening skills, OSCR services, and identifying/resolving conflict.  Request an OSCR workshop using the form below or Contact OSCR to discuss your situation further.

(45-55 mins)
This module involves a quiz to help determine participant’s conflict styles. Participants are then grouped according to their conflict style where we will do discussion groups. We will elicit responses from participants about their conflict styles. Some of the questions include “What are some advantages to your conflict style?”, “Which conflict style do you find difficult to work with?” We will then debrief around how each conflict styles can communicate with one another. This section may include role-plays or scenarios.

(10-15 mins)
Conflicts come in many forms, as such, our office have varying methods to meet the different needs of each conflict. We will explore the two pathways available to resolve conflicts; Alternative and Formal Conflict Resolution (ACR and FCR). We will be going through our different ACR services such as Conflict Coaching, Restorative Justice Circle, Social Justice Mediation and others; highlighting the different nature of each service and describing in which situation those services may be applicable. During this time, we’ll also touch on the process of Formal Conflict Resolution. Topics around this include the Statement, intake process, role of advisor, hearing, agreement, and outcome. We are also available for consulting any on-going conflict during the workshop.

(15-20 mins)
This involves the four steps of LARA, the listening skills technique. The four steps are Listen, Affirm, Respond and Add Information. Role plays/scenarios are integrated to let participants practice with this model of listening and responding.

(35-45 mins) This module offers 5 steps designed to help those in conflict come together to more deeply understand the conflict and create solutions that are beneficial to all parties involved. this module can be used to address conflict between individuals, or conflict within a larger group or organization.
