The New OSCR Logo: An Icon of Our Practice
Rooted in both social justice and restorative justice, the Office of Student Conflict Resolution (OSCR) strives to create a safe and scholarly community in which students navigate conflict in a peaceful, socially just, and self-reflexive manner. The OSCR logo supports that vision in the following ways:
The Bridge
The OSCR logo displays a bridge symbolizing connection between the places, people, emotions, identities, cultures, and values of the Michigan Community.
The Pillars
The three pillars supporting the bridge represent OSCR’s mission to Build Trust, Promote Justice, and Teach Peace.
The Circles
The circles atop the bridge represent the individuals who utilize our services and the multiplicity of social identities between them.
Other Interpretations
As an icon of our practice, the OSCR logo is adaptable to additional interpretations. For example, some see two community members linking arms in a united fashion, creating an environment that is inclusive and safe. Others see tunnels that represent pathways from one place to another. We welcome these perspectives because we know, as in conflict, everything is seen through the lens of our individual experiences and identities.
